Editorial Policy for Unclaimed Informational Listings

Version 1.1 | Last updated: 11/08/2026

This policy explains how NumaPet creates and manages basic informational listings for entities, professionals, activities or events related to the animal world, when those listings have not yet been claimed, confirmed or validated by their owners or authorised representatives.

  2. 2

    Purpose of this policy

The purpose of this policy is to provide transparency to users and entities about the origin, scope and editorial treatment of unclaimed informational listings published on NumaPet.

    • Explain what information may appear in a basic unclaimed listing.
    • Prevent a basic listing from being confused with a collaboration, recommendation, certification or sponsorship.
    • Allow the affected entity to correct, claim, expand or request removal of its listing.
    • Protect third-party rights over trademarks, logos, images, texts, databases and personal data.
    • Facilitate the transition between basic listing, claimed listing, validated listing, featured listing and future commercial services.
  3. 3

    Scope of application

This policy applies to unclaimed informational listings of entities, professionals, activities or events related to the animal world, including:

    • Shelters, rescue organisations, associations, foster care, volunteering or animal adoption entities.
    • Veterinary clinics, veterinary hospitals, professionals and animal sector centres.
    • Universities, academies, training companies, trainers and entities publishing courses or training activities.
    • Event organisers, trade fairs, congresses, exhibitions, solidarity activities, conferences or animal-related gatherings.
    • Companies, entities or resources linked to animal welfare, pets, conservation, education, services or activities within the NumaPet ecosystem.

This policy does not replace the Legal Notice, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Terms of Use, Professional Entity Conditions or the content licence that may apply when an entity claims or manages its listing.

  4. 4

What is an unclaimed informational listing

An unclaimed informational listing is one created by NumaPet from publicly available information from official or open sources, where the entity has not yet validated its content and does not necessarily maintain a commercial, contractual, advertising or collaborative relationship with NumaPet.

Where technically feasible, the listing may include a visible notice indicating that it is an unclaimed informational listing and that the entity may request correction, expansion, claim or removal.

  5. 5

    Editorial principles

    • Factual and minimal information: the unclaimed listing must be limited to objective and necessary data.
    • Public and verifiable sources: official websites, registers, professional directories, official profiles or identifiable public sources will be used wherever possible.
    • Original writing: NumaPet will draft its own summaries and avoid copying long texts, brochures, full programmes or third-party promotional materials.
    • Neutrality: the listing must not suggest recommendation, certification, sponsorship or collaboration where none exists.
    • Rights respected: third-party trade marks, trade names, logos, photographs, posters and other materials will only be used where sufficient authorisation, licence or legal basis exists, and in a manner proportionate to NumaPet's informational purpose. Their appearance does not imply sponsorship, collaboration, recommendation or a commercial relationship with the entity.
    • Updates and removal: the entity may request correction, expansion, claim or removal through the enabled channels.
    • Identified advertising: when payment, sponsorship, featuring or commercial agreement exists, this must be clearly indicated.
  6. 6

    Subsequent contact with the entity

NumaPet may contact entities individually when included in unclaimed listings to inform them of the listing's existence, request review, facilitate correction or invite them to claim it. This contact will be proportionate, preferably using corporate data or official channels, and the mere appearance in a listing does not imply acceptance of periodic commercial communications.

  12. 12

Relationship with personal and professional data

For unclaimed listings, NumaPet will seek to limit itself to professional, corporate or activity data, avoiding unnecessary personal data. Where natural persons working for a legal entity or professionals are involved, processing will be limited to data necessary for professional contact or to identify the professional role, allowing opposition, rectification or removal where applicable.

The publication of professional data will be coordinated with NumaPet's Privacy Policy and the enabled correction, claim or removal channels.

  13. 13

Accuracy of information and limitation of liability

NumaPet makes reasonable efforts to collect, verify, organise and update the information published in informational listings. However, due to the dynamic nature of data published by third parties, NumaPet does not guarantee that the information in a listing is complete, accurate, up to date or error-free at all times.

Users must verify directly with the relevant entity any important information before making decisions, including hours, service availability, emergencies, adoptions, events, courses, prices, locations, access conditions or any other relevant circumstance.

NumaPet may correct, update, complete, unpublish or remove listings when it detects errors, relevant changes or receives justified requests.

The mere publication of a listing does not constitute a recommendation, certification, endorsement, guarantee or validation of the entity, service, event or professional published.

NumaPet does not guarantee the permanent accuracy of published information and recommends verifying directly with the entity any relevant information before making decisions.

  14. 14

Images of animals, premises and persons

    • Animals: photographs of animals are not usually personal data in themselves, but may be protected by copyright or reveal information about persons, places or entities.
    • Premises: photographs of facilities, premises, interiors or staff will not be used without sufficient authorisation.
    • Identifiable persons: images of clients, students, attendees, workers, volunteers, minors or identifiable persons will not be published without a valid basis.
    • Metadata: before uploading files, unnecessary metadata that could reveal personal information or unwanted location should be removed.
  15. 15

Future plans, featured listings, add-ons and ranking

The existence of unclaimed listings does not prevent NumaPet from offering in the future expanded profiles, featured listings, add-ons, campaigns, credits, banners, carousels, home appearances or paid services. Any preferential visibility, sponsorship, promotion or featured treatment must be clearly identified for users and entities.

    • Free or unclaimed listings must not suggest a commercial relationship.
    • Higher plans or beta trials do not guarantee top positions, contacts, adoptions, patients, attendees, registrations or results.
    • The dynamic ranking may be explained in general terms, including that it may consider relevance, location, completeness, activity, interaction, validation status and, where applicable, contracted plan or promotion.
    • Prices, commercial conditions, taxes, duration, renewals and cancellations must be published or communicated before contracting any paid service.
  16. 16

    Relationship with other NumaPet documents

This policy is interpreted alongside the Legal Notice, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Terms of Use, Professional Entity Conditions, content use licence, Good Practices Channel and future commercial conditions for featured services, paid plans, add-ons or credits.
